Dynamo takes on defending Champs
Wednesday, 31 March 2010
Defending MLS champion Real Salt Lake makes it way to Robertson Stadium for the Dynamoís home opener this Thursday at 8 p.m. on ESPN2. Both teams will be coming off a short week as Houston returns home after their 1-1 draw with FC Dallas and RSL continues its season opening road trip after pasting San Jose 3-0 at Buck Shaw Stadium. If history is any indicator, the game should be filled with goals and controversy.

Even before Real attained its current status as league champions and was better known as a league doormat, itís usually given the Dynamo a good game at Robertson. The Dynamo has never lost to Salt Lake at home, and in fact, has won five of the six games.Included in those six games are two 4-3 wins, a 3-2 win, and several valiant comebacks from Salt Lake that nearly produced a point for the visitors in spite of being down by at least two goals. This RSL team will be confident that they can produce a franchise first and take three points from the Men in Orange.

Dynamo, FC Dallas draw in season opener
Monday, 29 March 2010
The 2010 season got off to a familiar start for the Houston Dynamo and its fans as the team came away with a point after drawing FC Dallas 1-1 last Saturday.

Thanks, closer

The draw marks the fourth time in five seasons that Houston has started the season with something other than a win. Nonetheless, the result will be a welcome point as off-season changes and difficult conditions on the road made the game tricky for both teams.

While the sun was out at kickoff, so was the wind. Gusts of over 30 mph did not help either team settle and the play was often disjointed and difficult to watch.

2010 Season Opener - Dynamo in Dallas
Thursday, 25 March 2010
With a new five-year collective bargaining agreement in place, fans and players alike can turn their focus to the season opener this Saturday against in-state rivals FC Dallas. The opening game marks the first time the teams have opened the season against one another.

Boswell and Cunningham

The Dynamo has only won one of its previous four season openers; the only victory being against the Rapids at the inaugural game at Robertson Stadium in 2006. In 2008, the Dynamo started the season on the road, which resulted in a 3-0 loss to the New England Revolution. In fact, since 2007, the Dynamo has managed to win exactly two games in the months of March and April.

While the slow starts have relatively little significance in a league that doesnít crown its champion based on who has the best regular season, itís something the Dynamo can avoid this season if for no other reason than to maintain bragging rights over a rival that theyíve historically dominated.
